Where you can find me next: Directing Casey and Diana by Nick Green at American Players Theatre for their Winter Words Reading Series on February 26th. Assistant directing A Year with Frog and Toad at Children’s Theatre Company opening in April. Then I’ll be back in the woods to assistant direct the first show of APT’s season Ring Round the Moon under Laura Gordon. Then, I’ll head to Milwaukee to direct First Stage’s Contemporary Company Class production of She Kills Monsters by Qui Nguyen.

I can’t find a more impactful or joy-filled way to share space with others than through the process of creating, telling, and experiencing stories. The theater is my home because of this.

Here’s what I’ve found most inspiring about my time in the industry. It’s taught me that: 1. I don’t have to have all of the answers and neither do you. 2. We all bring something unique to the table, and that’s what creates the magic. 3. We all have the ability to learn and change over time. These beliefs continue to shape who I am as an artist and how I produce art.

And then there’s the systems building side of my brain. If there’s a challenge in front of me that requires studying how each piece of the puzzle fits together, I’m pumped to figure it out. Because when we can work more efficiently, we can do better work together.

So, put all of these things together and you’ve got me as a theater director and administrator. I will always give my best by allowing myself and others to fail forward, meeting people where they are, keeping my eye on the bigger picture, and believing in the stories I’m helping tell.

When not in the rehearsal, you can find me hiking with my partner Mary and our insanely cute German Wirehaired Pointer, Tillie (I’m biased, like everyone who has a pet), somehow training for another half marathon, dreaming of another thru-hike, or sharing meals with friends and family. My most recent adventures include thru-hiking over 100 miles of the Superior Hiking Trail SoBo from Canada.

I’m inspired by people who love to maintain a sense of play and live in the moment, and so I strive to do the same, whether in my daily life or in the rehearsal room.
